We traveled to Beaches Resort January of 2005. Our three children, ages 7, 10 and 11, anticipated the well known Kids club at the vacation spot, while mom and dad enjoy some adult time. We found service excellent and very professional. Our son won a stuffed iguana about three feet long, at a Miami arcade and when he left it at the front desk, the staff spent three days tracking it down! It was worth more emotionally to our son than the toys value and the effort the concierge made reflected the week long professionalism and service we experienced. We left several of our Rock This World agates for each of our kids around the island and in the Miami airport! We’ve heard from travelers living in Paris, San Francisco and Cape Town South Africa already!

Locations at the all inclusive resort were great including the Iguana and Turtle bar (barmaid Fanny) as the service was excellent. No problem getting a bottle of wine to take out. We experienced all of the food and ate the entire trip with no extra costs, multiple times at Guiseppes, Reflections, Schooners, Kimonos and Sapodillas. There is always plenty to choose from as the buffet was changed daily. Breakfast at Schooners was great and we could always get a carton of milk or juice to take back to our room. Our room was large and accommodating. All five of us spent the week in a two bedroom suite. There is twice daily housekeeping. While the kids played we enjoyed the Gym and the spa is a must, the ‘sole to soul’ treatment is lovely. The pools were clean and some were designed for adults while the kids spent most of their time at Pirates Island, especially the water slides.

Little kids can stay at the daycare version called, Cuda club. Our children were older than that so we can’t comment too much on that service.

The beach was fantastic, and would recommend you try all the water sports available. We snorkeled and saw amazing variety of fish as well as an octopus. The beach towels never ran out, it was warm and sunny and other than a little sunburn we loved the fine white sand.

Nighttime entertainment was child friendly and fun lasting until 11pm. Late night entertainment was available for the older teens and young adults, but we headed to bed every night by 11:00 pm.

The only tough part is waiting on the taxis to transfer our family to the airport. Definitely take Virgin Airlines to the island. There is poverty on the island and until you are at the resort, you wonder if you made the right choice. The hotels are the major industry so in a way we are certainly helping the local economy while taking a needed break in our lives. We give this place a 5 Rock rating in our book!!
